Is there a common voice among the

nurses in the U.S.? Registered nurses play many roles within the U.S. healthcare system but the most

important one being the direct care giver. RNs are also responsible for providing education for

our patients, advocating for them, and ensuring they receive the best care. RNs are responsible

for communicating with the care team and family members. I am not sure what role the RN

should play. Sometimes, I believe the RN has too many responsibilities on their shoulders and

there should be more resources available so the RN can focus on providing patient care.

What are the essential themes in the latest Institute of Medicine’s Report on the Future of Nursing? Do

you agree with the Report’s findings? The essential themes for the IOM focus on providing care to

diverse populations. This will be done by providing further education for RNs to "help create a

patient-centered health care system". However, there is a discussion about change in

compensation as well as the mentality surrounding RN's taking on more responsibility and more
